Sahin, 35, previously served as interim manager of Borussia Dortmund during the 2020-21 season, leading the team to victory in the DFB-Pokal. He was subsequently succeeded on a permanent basis by Borussia Mönchengladbach manager Marco Rose, who left the club at the end of the 2022-23 season.
