Mandatory Evacuations Ordered in Parts of Florida

Tropical Storm Debby is rapidly strengthening in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall in Florida as a hurricane by Monday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tropical storm warning for the entire Florida coast, from the Alabama border to Jupiter Inlet.

State of Emergency Declared in Florida

Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 24 counties in Florida, including Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for low-lying areas in these counties. Residents are urged to evacuate immediately if they are in an evacuation zone.

The NWS is urging residents to take the storm seriously and to prepare for potential flooding, power outages, and other dangerous conditions. Tropical Storm Debby is expected to bring heavy rainfall, strong winds, and high surf to the Florida coast.
