Kelly Highlights Importance of VA Benefits for American Veterans

Kelly, a former Navy combat pilot and NASA astronaut, emphasizes the urgency of providing long overdue benefits to veterans.

WASHINGTON D.C. - Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) delivered a speech on the Senate floor today, urging his colleagues to pass the PACT Act, a bill that would expand healthcare and benefits for veterans exposed to toxic substances during their military service.

Kelly, a former Navy combat pilot and NASA astronaut, spoke about the urgent need to provide these benefits to veterans who have been suffering from illnesses related to toxic exposure.

The PACT Act would expand eligibility for VA healthcare and benefits to veterans who were exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances during their military service. The bill would also create a new framework for the VA to evaluate and process claims related to toxic exposure.

Kelly emphasized that the PACT Act is a matter of justice for veterans who have been harmed by their service to our country.

"We have a moral obligation to ensure that our veterans have access to the care and benefits they have earned," Kelly said.

Kelly called on his colleagues to pass the PACT Act without delay.

"Our veterans have waited long enough for these benefits," Kelly said. "It's time to do right by them."
