Biography
Francesca Albanese is an Italian international lawyer and academic. She was born in 1977.
Education and Career
Francesca Albanese holds a J.D. from the University of Bologna and an LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. She is a professor of international law at the University of Milan.
Work with the United Nations
Since 2014, Francesca Albanese has served as the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. In this role, she has presented several reports to the UN Human Rights Council, including a report on the Anatomy of a Massacre.
Controversy
In October 2021, Francesca Albanese appeared to justify Hamas' October 7 massacre. This led to criticism from the Israeli government and other human rights groups.
